Christine completed her bachelor’s degree from Weber State, a master’s degree in Special Education and her BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst). She has a passion for helping teachers, parents, and caregivers deal effectively with the challenging behaviors of the people they serve. She worked at Spectrum Academy in North Salt Lake for 10 years, specializing in assisting children with autism and other disabilities. While there, she worked as a Paraprofessional, Teacher, Assessment Director, and Principal. She has her Wilson Reading Endorsement, a tier three reading intervention program, which she successfully implemented at the elementary school. Christine is a certified practitioner and instructor in PCM (Professional Crisis Management) and CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute). Both programs incorporate prevention and de-escalation strategies to be used by trained practitioners, as well as hands-on techniques for behavior teams (to be used as a last resort). She is a certified instructor in the Behavior Tools program, which teaches people how to strengthen relationships, avoid coercion and use appropriate reinforcement strategies to circumvent challenging behaviors. She is currently employed at the Utah State Board of Education (USBE), as an education and behavior specialist in the special education department. She enjoys improving behavior by looking at the needs of the whole child, implementing behavioral strategies and teaching skills to improve outcomes in schools and communities.
