Introducing a course that opens students’ eyes to well-paying careers in the field of engineering that can lead them back to their communities for meaningful work. The Engineering Principles course is project and experience based designed to introduce students to the various fields of engineering. It was created by the University of Utah College of Engineering, in partnership with Granite School District.

The curriculum is free for Utah educators and only requires low-cost, easily accessible equipment and materials.  Students gain an understanding of what engineers do and how their courses in high school are important preparation for entering the field of engineering.

In this presentation, you will hear from one of the creators of the course, as well as a teacher who is successfully implementing the course in a rural school environment.  Come see how an understanding of the field of engineering can benefit your students.
